Visiting Vashon Island


It’s the bistro with the name just as quirky as the Island itself. The building itself built over 125 years ago, the location itself was, in fact, a Hardware Store prior to becoming a restaurant. Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places the owners of this unique location’s mission was to create a “great good food” place where the community could come together. The food is bistro style with great hamburgers, farm fresh salads, soft tacos, fish and chips, and their famous truffle fries.

Whether your dietary requirements have sent you down the vegan path or not, this quaint little cafe an organic, all vegan and gluten-free cafe located on Vashon Island. just across the street from the famous Cafe Luna. They have a seasonal menu with locally sourced farm fresh ingredients that make up their soups, salads, sandwiches, bowls and desserts.


Just a short drive through town brings you to Snapdragon Bakery and Cafe with delectable cakes, cookies, muffins and plenty of vegetarian breakfast and lunch options available. Wednesday and Sunday evenings starting at 6pm you can enjoy an evening of music entertainment. On a nice sunny day there is plenty of room on the back patio where the sounds of the water fountain and singing birds provide a peaceful tranquil surrounding while you enjoy your unique vegetarian meal.

May Kitchen and Bar was started in 2012 and located in the heart of Vashon Island’s “town”. Just past the stop light on the left with parking located on the street. May’s calm atmosphere is very homey and inviting. Their food is a Thai inspired cuisine with signature cocktails that are sure to kick start your evening.
