Summer just isn’t summer without experiencing the Vashon Strawberry Festival! And the Vashon Strawberry Festival isn’t complete without the annual Strawberry Festival Grand Parade!
The parade will begin at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 21, immediately after the Children’s Parade. Arrive early to claim the best viewing spot along the Strawberry Festival Grand Parade route. Traditional parade favorites such as floats, marching bands, animals, and costumes will entertain alongside unique Vashon offerings like a marching ukulele band and performance artists. Enjoy entries by Vashon businesses and community groups and celebrate Vashon’s veterans. Be sure to wave to our Grand Marshal, and don’t rule out the possibility of a surprise guest or two!
The parade begins south of town before making its way through the center of Vashon and the Strawberry Festival before ending near Ober Park. Not to be outdone by the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, multiple performance areas will be placed along the parade route to give viewers an opportunity to take in the special acts appearing in the parade. These performance areas will be located in front of the Voice of Vashon, Bank and Vashon Highway, in front of Pandora’s Box, and in front of the Vashon Library. While the early bird may get the worm, early arrivals will get the best seats along the parade route!
The parade line-up concludes with the antique tractors. The parade route ends just past the Park and Ride at 171st where tractors and other vehicles will park on the east side of the street so festival goers can get a closer look. Organizers ask that attendees not walk against the parade and wait until the last float passes before heading south to inspect the vehicles. Organizers also ask that no vehicles drive south on Vashon Highway after the parade ends due to festival goers making their way to the end of the route.
Don’t let summer pass you by without experiencing the Vashon Strawberry Festival. Plan now to bring your friends, family, and sunscreen to the Strawberry Festival Grand Parade. You won’t want to miss the fun!
